Aluminium windows

Aluminium windows with beautifully slim frames

Oxted, Limpsfield, Woldingham and the villages around them

Slimline, flush and steel-look aluminium casements, made to measure for Surrey houses of every age.

Why aluminium suits so many houses here

Aluminium is strong, so a frame can be far narrower than a uPVC one of the same size. On the wide garden windows of a 1960s or 1990s house, that means more view and less frame. On an older house it lets a new window keep the fine lines of the old one.

Frames are powder-coated, so you can choose almost any colour: anthracite and black are popular, but soft whites, creams and muted greens suit period houses well. You can also have one colour outside and another inside. The finish is hard-wearing and only needs a wipe now and then.

Aluminium costs more than uPVC and less than real timber. For many people it sits in the right place: a crisp, slim window that never needs painting.

Slimline, flush or steel-look?

Slimline casement

A modern outward-opening casement with very narrow sightlines. The opening part sits just proud of the frame. It is the natural choice for post-war and later houses, extensions and rear rooms.

Flush casement

The opening part closes flat into the frame, the way a traditional casement does. It gives an Edwardian or interwar house a period look with modern glass and seals.

Steel-look

Slim frames divided by glazing bars, in the manner of the steel windows fitted to many 1920s and 1930s houses and to Arts and Crafts homes. It also works well on a modern house that wants a little character.

Getting the details right

When the railway reached Oxted in 1884, villas and cottages went up quickly around the station, and Woldingham and Hurst Green followed. On houses like these the aim is to keep what made the windows look right: where the opening parts sit, how the bars divide the glass and how deep the sill is.

Keep the pattern the same from room to room, too. When every window is planned together, the whole house looks considered rather than patched.

If your house is in one of Oxted's conservation areas or is listed, check before you order. How to check the planning.

What aluminium windows cost

Every price is worked out for your house. It depends on the sizes of the windows, how many there are and where they sit, the access, and the materials, colours and hardware you choose. Book a free home visit and you'll have an exact price for your job.

Most windows are priced from standard products. A few have to be made specially for the house, such as an unusual shape or a curved bay, and those cost more because each one is a one-off.

We're happy to quote for a single window. Three or more windows make up a day's work at the normal rate, while a single window carries a call-out charge on top.

Our prices page shows typical totals for several kinds of house, including a 1990s detached house in slimline aluminium and an Arts and Crafts home in steel-look.

Aluminium bays and doors

Bay windows can be made in slimline aluminium too, with slim corner posts that let in more light. See bay windows. Garden doors in matching aluminium can be fitted at the same time.
