An old village next door to Oxted
Limpsfield sits just east of Oxted, and its village centre is far older than the town that grew up around Oxted station. The parish council describes some 35 listed buildings in the conservation area, from St Peter's Church, begun in the twelfth century, to houses and inns of the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries such as The Bull.
Around the High Street and Titsey Road, a window can belong to a building several hundred years old. Old Court Cottage keeps a timber frame from the medieval period. Further out, the village appraisal notes stone cottages near the Common from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, with small openings set in thick walls.

Choosing windows in Limpsfield
On those older buildings, a heavy frame or an extra bar can upset a small elevation quickly. Painted timber or a slim flush casement usually suits best, with the opening parts and bars copied from what is there. Away from the village centre, many houses are Victorian, interwar or later, and aluminium or flush uPVC fits them well.
Tandridge adopted the Limpsfield Village Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan in June 2022. Living inside the boundary doesn't automatically mean you need permission for new windows, but listed status, any Article 4 direction and old planning conditions all need checking for the exact address.
