A bay is one window, not three
The bay is often the best window in the house, and on an interwar semi it sets the look of the whole house. When it is replaced, the corner posts, the angles, the sill and the way the parts meet all need planning together, so the new bay reads as one piece.
On a semi-detached house, it also helps to look at the neighbouring half. Matching the height of the transom and the width of the opening parts keeps the pair looking like a pair.
Flush uPVC or slimline aluminium
Flush uPVC gives a bay a calm, traditional look and is the better value of the two. Slimline aluminium has narrower posts and more glass, which suits later houses and bays that face the garden.
Curved and unusual bays
Most windows are priced from standard products. A few have to be made specially for the house, such as an unusual shape or a curved bay, and those cost more because each one is a one-off.

Support, sills and the roof above
A bay carries weight from the wall and the little roof above it. At the home visit, the base, posts, sill and brick arch are all checked, along with the roof over the bay. If anything needs extra support or repair, it is set out in the written price before you decide.
Old frames are taken away, and the inside and outside are made good around the new bay.
